With 30 years’ experience in the retail and airport sectors under his belt, David joined us early in 2018 to work alongside Tom Hardiman in the Aviation team.

Key themes running through David’s work include digging out the ‘so what?’ from insights to build the case for change, and collaborating for business growth. He loves to work right across the organisation from the board room to the shop (or terminal) floor, co-creating different ways of thinking and new approaches.

David previously spent 11 years at Heathrow as Head of Research & Insight and Commercial Strategy. This saw him working in every area of the airport – guiding and inspiring growth in the commercial proposition, a transformation in the end-to-end passenger experience, and implementing significant operational improvements. This included embedding the passenger experience at the heart of regulated business planning, and the development of the Transforming Heathrow through Service programme.

After graduation with a BA (Hons) in Industrial Economics, David’s retail DNA was shaped by 20 years’ experience at Sainsbury's, where he rose through the ranks from trainee food buyer to leadership roles in category strategy, pricing and promotions, store development, and marketing.

David lives near Oxford, where a busy life with his wife and two sons includes a lot of sport – albeit mostly as a spectator of the boys’ rugby and football matches. As a family, they squeeze in as much outdoor activity as possible, particularly running and hillwalking – and travel whenever there’s time.
