Corporate Social Responsibility
We believe that actions speak louder than words and our approach to corporate social responsibility is no different. We are currently supporting Vitalise and Macmillan Cancer Support through a variety of fund raising work and pro-bono projects.
MacMillan Cancer Support
Egremont provides support and expertise at a number of levels within Macmillan Cancer Support, enabling them to focus on improving the lives of people affected by cancer in the most effective way possible.
Egremont are working with Macmillan on a pro bono basis, helping them to:
- Evolve their future strategy
- Develop the their change management capability to deliver that future strategy
- Mobilise and engage their people across all parts of their organisation ensuring the strategy implementation is smooth and sustainable
Local Actions
Our Marketing Director, Natalie Gordon, finds the time between working for us and looking after her two young children to work as a partnership governor for Queen Katherine Secondary School in Kendal, Cumbria. Aside from the usual governor committee and meeting work agreeing and deciding on the latest school policies, Natalie has helped the school to create its school vision for 2015. She says, “I really enjoyed doing this, working with all parts of the school community from Year 7 students through to parents, teachers and support staff. We have created something everyone is proud of that will set the direction for the next few years.”
Between working and looking after his children, Simon Talbot, a Project Manager with Egremont, also manages to find time to volunteer with the Samaritans on a regular basis.
Aside from work, Hannah enjoys volunteering and spends time each week at a local school helping children with their reading and literacy skills.
As part of our ongoing support for MacMillan, we hold an annual Coffee Morning in the Autumn with Vanessa and Hannnah baking some delicious treats for the team.
The Great South Run
Cherayar and Andy recently took part in the Great South Run. Their places were with the advanced runners and they both did us proud, with Cherayar acheiving a personal best. They have since been remarkably quiet about their future marathon plans!
The Celtic Challenge
Andy and his crew took part in the Celtic Challenge to raise money for charity. It is classed as the longest sea rowing race in the world. The race, which is an extreme test of endurance and strength, is a biennial 90-mile race across the Irish Sea from Arklow in County Wicklow to Aberystwyth, North Wales. This year 13 boats started and 6, including the Egremont boat, we are proud and just a little relieved to say, finished the race. The rotating squad of 12 rowers finished in 20.5 hours and raised a fantastic £7,500. Well done to Andy and the crew!
