We recently conducted a strategic review of a retail conglomerate for a private equity consortium. We validated the plan assumptions, provided by the incumbent management team, for delivering the customer proposition. We assessed the trading brands (which to keep) against customer propensity to spend, needs, wants and desires. We validated the opportunities for the introduction of further brands through concessions / franchise arrangements. We provided a view of the likely exit strategies three - five years out. And finally, we prepared the compelling case for a strategic partner, including the likely profile of trading improvement and value creation during the first 5 years. The deal was approved and financed by our clients and the new management team has continued to deliver the strategy and grow the business.
