The Head Office of the Future: from complexity to agility

We were delighted to launch the results of our survey on the Head Office of the Future at a Breakfast Briefing held in association with HR Magazine on 25th June. We welcomed approximately 40 HR professionals across a variety of industries and public sector organisations, who were in equal measure entertained and challenged by our panel comprising of:

  • Adam Kingl, Director of the Emerging Leaders Programme at London Business School
  • Sue Swanborough, HR Director of global food company General Mills
  • Wayne Clark, Partner at Best Companies
  • Sue Grist, Egremont Director

As Sian Harrington, editor of HR Magazine says in her introduction to our report, "The timing of this survey into how organisational structures are changing is particuarly apt, given the huge amount of cost cutting featuring heavily at head office level at the moment."

Our survey respondents were aligned in their commitment to a very different looking head office of the future where leadership is nurturing and visionary, employees are empowered, networked and innovative and processes are slick to name just a few of the aspirations. Our debate on the day focused on just how were HR going to achieve that vision in 5 years time and should the changes be incremental or step change.
