Celebrating 10 Great Years
We were delighted to recently host a breakfast at the Groucho Club, with the broadcaster, Robert Peston, as our keynote speaker. In honour of our 10th Birthday we invited clients with whom we have worked over the last 10 years and those we have recently got to know – our thanks go out to them for helping us grow into the thriving business we are today.
Those who came hoping to be told that we are over the worst and can look forward to growth and prosperity were to be disappointed. Robert Peston readily admitted that his reputation for pessimism precedes him…and he was true to his word. Here are some snippets from his presentation:
- On average the recession has left every British adult £150k poorer
- The banks are still on life support
- Britain’s households, businesses, banks and the state have borrowed 4 times the value of all we produce
- If we do nothing, UK public sector debt could be 200% of GDP in 10 years and the interest bill could amount to 10% of GDP
- We are a 1/3 of the way to fixing capitalism so “Hope for the best and plan for the worst”
His final words…”This is a massive national emergency and we all have to pull together.” So there you have it – the worst isn’t over yet – get planning!
